Hoping the experts here can help out. Here is my issue. Short story I need a nut kit!

Long story, I have search far and wide for a nut kit for my 95 Blazer 4.3. I have checked every parts supplier I can find. Every internet supplier listed. Even several that showed stock, I called, asked to confirm, no stock. I called Dorman part#55163. They responded and said they are having issues with a supplier and do not know when they will have a manufacturing date.

Here my engine issue. I am looking to recondition my Blazer after 2 years of sitting. I have replaced every possible part short of pulling the motor and tranny. I have a new fuel spider to install. If I pull the top off the clam shell and go to replace it I am worried I am going too damage the nut kit. I have a new fuel pump, the pressure holds at 45 psi. This leads me to believe the nut kit fuel lines are not currently leaking in side the plenum. However I do have a hard start condition. Takes a bit for it to fire up. I want to replace the spider. If I damage the nut kit, then I have a non operating vehicle with no replacement part.
My question, can I repair the existing nut kit? after all it's jut a 4 metal fitting, some O rings and fuel line. Can I just replace the fuel line. What is it made of?, What is the I.D of the existing line? I have found some 3/8th nylon fuel line. Will any fuel rated hose work? Is rebuilding the nut kit possible?

My Blazer is a great truck. 4 door , 2 wheel drive LT edition. I bought it off the show room floor in Nov.1994. Had all the bells a whistles at the time. I have kept in great condition all these years. Not a spec of rust original paint, still looks like new. I am eligible for collector plates now. Going to apply soon. I need it running as good as it looks.

I can’t answer your question about the nut kit but since you have concerns about tearing into the plenum consider that your leak down pressure at the engine is below the spec. It might be worth while to test at the fuel filter as outlined in the fuel pressure test sticky to see if the problem is before or after the fuel filter. What brand of fuel pump did you use? Delphi or AC Delco is strongly preferred.

Thank you for the reply. I may have miss typed. I was going from memory from a few months ago about the pressure. I recall it was within specifications when I tested it. I will double check to be certain. The new fuel pump is a Spectrum brand and the new fuel filter AC Delco. I was not sure of the quality of the pump. I could feel the difference in weight from the old to new. Old was heavier. Which I suspect means more windings in the armature motor. The old was working, but I replaced it as a precaution. It had 200,000 Kilometers on it.

 

Hard to believe no one here has an answer to this problem. Seems to be a fairly common issue. with all these S10 series. Someone must have tried to repair the fuel lines. So if nut kits are not available and nobody has an answer on how to repair, I guess you all just scrap your truck.

I also am no help on the nut kit....been way too many years since I had/worked on my '95.

I just wanted to say that you are a brave soul to keep a '95 going! First year of the Gen II's....unique OBD1.0 or 1.5....depending upon when it was built. Same with engines....two slightly different engines in '95.

I will say mine took me to 244k miles, engine/trans going strong....just other things breaking and no longer working. Sold it and got my '02.

 

So Mike...After seeing this 'thread' I felt bad and contacted my GM guy Al....He said there is quite a few of these available in the US...I've never shipped to Canada, so I don't know how that works but there is plenty of stock in the US...That part number again is #17112705....There is a store in Houston Texas with 8 of them..If you want (I would)....I asked him (Al) if it was ok for you to contact him and he said sure...He (Al) is a super nice guy with knowledge a plenty about GM's..Having like 30 plus years in the business and super well respected here locally...His number is (315)-437-5464 and ask for Al Koster...There is your solution..I didn't talk price..My guess it will be a better price than screwing with it yourself (or if I screwed with it as well)...Happy Holidays!

 

Thank you very much for that information. I will definitely contact Al on Monday. Shipping is quite easy. Just send USPS and they take care of the paper word. Charge too much , but not much choice. Again I very much appreciate your help.
