Default odd problem

I have a 98 blazer 2 door, 2 wheel drive with a 4.3L. we finished working on the engine we sprayed engine cleaner, then rinsed it out with the hose. We were washing the blazer and all of a sudden the horn went on by itself and wouldn't shut off. I pulled the fuse and it still stayed on. Then the horn shut off by itself. Then about 20 minutes later the horn turned back on and wouldn't shut off. My dad had to unplug the connector (cant think of the proper name) to the horn to shut it off. I started the engine and shut it off hoping it would stop the horn from blaring but it didn't.

The horn wasn't blaring like a security horn where the horn sounds then shuts off then the horn comes back on etc. It was a straight horn blasting like when you lay on the horn consistently and dont let up.

There is a horn relay it could be stuck closed and thus nothing will stop it accept disconnecting the relay or the horn.

Pull the relay and if the horn stops blowing then go buy a new one and your problem should be gone. Unless there is a short somewhere that's causing the relay to stay picked up. But i would pull it and replace it first its a easy test.

Well i hope that's all it is and if so its just a few minutes to repair. You'll have to check back in and let us know if that fixed it. I assume it will since you sprayed the engine compartment but that's the only way to get it clean. PS i always use tire shine under my hood after i wash it so everything looks all shinny and new for a little while.

the wires have shorted out before because of a blown exhaust gasket, but my dad cleaned the wires and wrapped each one in some kind of electrical tape. Hopefully the relay switch is what is wrong with it, because i dont really want to have to buy all those wires that wrap around the back side of the engine compartment.

Yea, the engine compartment was very dirty. The old owner blew the engine. Then found the cheapest mechanic he could find and had him put the replacement engine in. Well..... lets just say, you get what you pay for.
