Default Odometer window and gear selector window problem

Hi again. I've got a little head scratcher for the forum and Blazer buffs. I have an '03 LS 4 door,4x4,4.3L V6, auto transmission. For the past few months, I've had a SES light on and my brake and ABS lights flash on and off, sometimes just flicker like there's a connection loose somewhere, or sometimes they just stay on for a while, then go out for a while. I know the popular fix is to have the EBCM soldered, I just haven't got to it yet. Today, however, on the way to work, my Odometer readout and Gear selection window flickered, then went blank for a few miles, then came back on and haven't done it since. Could these two light issues be related? What would cause the odometer and gear window to do that? Any ideas what I should look for? Any help would be greatly needed and appreciated and thanks in advance.

I had a similar issue a while back, my gear selector was black. It turned out to be a broken wire at the neutral safety switch. You could always start there.

Would the NSS be in the steering column of my Blazer?

Suggest pulling the instrument pod out and cleaning the contacts as this does sound like a loose or dirty electrical connection regarding the gear and odometer displays. There could also be a wire or wires in the steering column that are out of place and have had the insulation rubbed through from the steering wheel turning.

Time to spend some quality time with the Blazer, good luck and let us know what you find.

The NSS is on the side of your transmission.

Big box on the drivers side of transmission is the nss

I also have the same issue with the sporadic flashing tranny gear selection crap. Pretty sure mines related to a bad ground somewhere between the body and block/frame, just haven't gotten around to it yet. Look up a wiring schematic and start having fun tracing that crap back!
