I have been doing them every 3000 miles since ive owned the truck..its not failing but i want to start towing my boat with it.

 

How many miles when you got it? I find high mileage vehicles very interesting. They can teach us a lot.

34,000 when i got it. This truck and i have been along way together.

 

As you know I stated earlier in this thread that I don't agree with 3,000 mile oil changes but a 4.3 with 334K miles and no problems is a powerful data point. I'm only at 265K on my highest mileage vehicle and 205K on my Blazer. I would not take that engine out just to see how high it will go. What oil have you been using?

Valvoline max life 10-30 in the winter 10-40 in the summer.

 

I have been very happy with a synthetic blend in my 265K Toyota truck, sounds like Valvoline is another good choice.

Ive been driving my 98 but starting ne t week this will be my daily driver. I use the same oil in the 98.
