Default Oil filter lines- adapter to line gasket

Tried searching, and couldn't find an exact answer to my question.

I replaced my oil filter lines, and the o-ring/gasket on the adapter today. When I removed the lines from the adapter, each had a round, flat "washer" type gasket in between it and the adapter block. The gasket kit I bought didn't contain this type of gasket, but did include several small o-rings, which I placed between the adapter and lines, and lines and oil filter housing. After getting it all back together, and running for several minutes with no leaks, I got it on the road.

A few miles later, I notice a cloud behind me, and pull over. Oil is pouring out at an alarming rate from the adapter block. After getting home, I looked underneath, and I noticed one of the o-rings between the line and adapter block was pinched out. I am assuming this is the cause of my leak.

My question is, has everyone else used the o-rings, or is there a source for the "washer" gaskets? I can't find any online. The o-rings didn't fit tightly around the oil lines, like the original gaskets did.

i noticed this too. But i did notice not to tighten down the lines really tight as it pinches the orings. tighten them "snug" and try it again.

Maybe that's what I did wrong. I tightened it down as tight as I could!

yea,you gotta remember you are using rubber orings which can pinch, and rip. put a little oil on them when you install them.

My 96 may be different than your 95. The gaskets are used on the ends that go onto the engine and remote filter block, and the o-rings are used on the fittings that go into the radiator IIR.

'97 TSM shows the lines-to-adapter bolt (both engine side and remote side) torque setting of 26 ft lb.

I also have O rings in my kit, but the flat washer type is what came off. I too would like to source those flat washer type gaskets.

That's what I need! Where did you get those gaskets? The kit I bought at OReillys didn't come with that.

Found them. Advanced Auto has them and has them listed as a direct fit. $10.99

I don't know why my engine gasket kit came with the O rings. Autozone also lists the O rings. I'm more comfortable with the flat ones. Thanks much.
