Default oil filter part#s ???

i know that my 02 takes a pf52 delco. are there any other choices..ie larger? i just think the pf52 is a bit small. i had a 94 toyota with the 22re (awesome engine) factory called for a dinky filter but i found that a fl1a motorcraft would fit and held like 3x the oil or the fl820s. the same issue on my 03 silverado with the 5.3 v8, its filter is like half the size of the blazers.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default RE: oil filter part#s ???

The PF52 isthe larger of the two filters AC/Delco spec'd for the 4.3L. It was for the 4wd version of the Blazer and the PF47 was for the 2wd. Either can be used in either application. I use a Wix 51036 (the larger of the two filters) in my '02 2wd.

There might be other filters that would fit, that werent truely compatible. Im not sure why you would need a larger filter. The stock will technically outlast the oil in the engine, unless of course your engine is practically toast and metal is flying off everywhere inside. If I recall theGM specfor thisfilter on this engineit actually only requires a change every other oilchange. Of course at the price its always better to change it anyway. The small filters on the 5.3 like you mentioned and the 4.8should be changed every oil change based on GM spec.
