Oil Filter Recommendations
I have a 2001 LT 4x4 with 145,000 miles on it. I have just started getting a knocking first thing in the morning but it only last for a few minutes (once the negine warms up). The oil pressure is fine and afterwards not a peep. After doing some research here I think the problem may be a back flow problem with my oil filter. I have heard that Frams are suppose to be good but I wanted to get your advice. Thanks.

I suspect the filter is not the problem, but I recommend ACDelco, Wix, or Purolator. I am not a Fram fan.

Frams are built cheap. They use a cardboard backing plate in the regular orange filter.
The ones he posted are pretty good. K&N is supposed to be a good filter, too.

Both rriddle3& cbr995 are correct in their replies. It sounds like the usual rod bearing knock. Story: Bought a 96 for $500 that had 200k on it,had the rod knock when cold,so I let it warm up well(at the time I lived up by the canadian border in NH) and drove it gently until fully warm and didn't rev it too high at all times. End of story: That motor is STILL running today(in another vehicle) and has approx 275k on it! Just maintain your engine and baby it and it should last. Or pull the motor and rebuild as necessary.
