Default One time hesitation (at least for now)

So me and my girlfriend went away for supper tonight to Texas Roadhouse, and on the way home I went to get on a highway and while coming down the on-ramp a big rig was coming up beside me and not getting over. Naturally I floor it beings that I was almost up to the speed limit and I should beat the rig hands down...boy was I wrong. I nailed the accelerator and started speeding up, all of a sudden the blazer lost all get-up-and-go and started slowing down along with rpm's declining. I lifted on the accelerator briefly thinking it would help and it did for a short time where I started speeding up for a few seconds and it did the same thing again. Trust me, there is nothing like having a freightliner grille fill up the whole rear window of a blazer.... So what would have caused this one time hesitation? I floored it after getting on some back road later tonight with no problem. My catalytic converter rattles some so could it have gotten a piece lodged just right or am I dreaming? I'm interested into what caused this phenomenon. Any light shedding would be greatly appreciated!

When mine did that, my MAF sensor was covered in oil and gunk. I had a horrible time with it until I cleaned it

I will keep that in mind. I'm hoping it won't decide to do it again, but if it does, I want to be one step ahead...if ya can call it that ha ha thanks

And if that's the problem it's only a 5 minute fix! Just read a how to first and take all the cautions
