Hi Folks, I'm new to this forum and the Blazer community.

I recently purchased a 2000 Blazer 4.3 LT at an auction and I cannot get it to start unless I pour fuel directlly into the throttle body!

Out here in Swaziland, at Africa's southern corner, there is no support or service for my new baby!

These are my "symptoms":

a] the "check engine" light remains on
b] the engine turns when the ignition is started
c] there is fuel all the way through the fuel line up to the fuel throttle body
d] the engine starts if fuel is poured directly into the throttle body

I have:

e] replaced the fuel pump
f] cleaned the petrol tank
g] checked the fuel line to the throttle body

If you have a fuel circuit diagram or any advice you can share or threads you suggest I follow, I'd appreciate your help.

Vasbyt ou maat, someone with the technical knowledge will pop along soon. They'll probably need a code to be read from the on board computer but I'm not sure if anyone, least of all in Swaziland, will be able to do that for you.

Where in Swaziland? I lived in Malelane (Kruger Park) many years ago (1970's). Also used to look after the admin for a haulage company in Big Bend, Matsapha, Mhlume & Simunye (from the Jo'burg office).

 

Damn... and I thought I was far from help when broken down out in west Texas! Do you have a fuel pressure gauge to verify pressure from the pump? How about a scanner to retrieve codes from the computer? You really need to see what the computer is saying. Could be either the spider or connections at the pump. Anyone else?

 

Try changing out the fuel filter. If the tank needed cleaning and the filter was never replaced, that could be your culprit. Getting a pressure guage on there will go a long way in the trouble shooting arena.

 

i live in manzini also used to work in BIG bend at the sugar mill

 

I worked for the haulier that hauled the cane to the mill back in the '70's & '80's. Not sure if they're still there. I left S.A. in 1992 & have never been back - never will.
