Default Overhead Console Giving Dashes ----

I have 97 Blazer 4x4, A couple weeks ago I looked up to see the range and noticed it was giving ---- Since then all the information has just been ----- On the range, mpg, compass, avrg driving speed. and I'm wondering if I have to replace it or if it could be a loose connection, and how easy they are to replace?

I've never taken it apart or anything, do you think the wire could have grounded out with just normal wear and tare? How would I check?

So I feel a little stupid, but here's why it was giving dashes.... I had the ABS fuse out for the winter.. I hate driving in the snow with ABS, If i wanna lock my tires up, I wanna lock my tires up. But anyway, for some reason these two compleeetelyyy separate things are on the same fuse, ONLY labled brake. But thats what it was.

The only thing I can think of is that removing the BRAKE fuse somehow cut out the VSS signal to the overhead console which is used for some of the features.

Yeah I was thinking that too, I mean the over head console was on. So it was getting power, It just was getting info. glad to have it back with the range, especially now that my fuel gauge is getting screwy. The range seems allot more stable
