Default P0128 Code

We have a 2001 Blazer extreme the we bought about 3 years ago,has 107000 miles on her and has been a good buy.

Yesterday we got the CEL for the first time. Code p0128 ETC sensor.

Can someone direct me (I have searched) to a re & re thread on the thermostat and the sensor.

They look straight forward but a little guidance always helps.

Thanks for having me.

Greg.

Thanks rriddle3.
I know this same question has probably been answered and asked a million times. The search feature is tough to manipulate.

I do understand the reason and why I got the code.

Just like to know if we have any how too sections on this forum.
Looks like a thermostat and ETC sensor are needed.

Having searched for ages I cannot find any step by step instructions or any short cuts or watch out for this or that tid bits, any part numbers?
Not even sure where the ETC part goes. I think it is in the drivers side head but getting at it might be tricky. How bout through the wheel well?Anything tricky or odd about changing the thermostat?

Any help will sure be appreciated.

Thanks.

Its easy! stand at the front of your vehicle. Its right in the middle between the throttle body and EGR. It is a black metal hose that 90*s right after it hits the engine.

Part is listed at the store. Grab the 180* one cuz these things run perfect at the factory temp. Any hotter and your wasting gas and any colder and you may get stuck in closed loop.

The factory thermostat is 195 degrees and 'closed loop' is what you actually want. It is acheived after the engine reaches an operating temperature and all sensors are working normally.

I sat there for a sec thinking which was which. My mistake. Maybe I was thinking of my GFs car with the 180*. Again my mistake. I'll be quite! lol
