P0440 code only with total Fill up
Ok, I've been swapping out the Valve down by the Spare tire, and I swapped out the Solenoid at the Intake manifold.
I have pulled off and added RTV where the Hard plastic line meets the Steel line (behind the Distributor) I have added RTV on the Solenoid on the intake and put the Plastic lin eback on. Both these areas have 'O' ring connections that I thought might have dried out and caused this EVAP leak.
I noticed a wear mark on the Plastic hose back by the rear driveres fender that was not worn through but I RTV'd and clamped a piece of gas line to it so it doesn't wear thru.
We can run this vehicle and fill it over 3/4 of a tank without the Code popping up. It's just when we really top it off that we get this Code. I'm beginning to think that it's normal.
I thought this Evap nonsense functions until about 1/2 tank. so why is this car happy with anything less then a Very Full tank of gas?

Check your filler neck and all connection down to the tank-Has to be corrosion free & tight! If the neck has any major exterior corrosion, possible problem! In harsh climates:no more than 5-6 years on these parts!
I ran a mirror and fingers down the Fill pipe. They have a bit of rust on them but nothing appeared to be Through or even porous. I would think that if the Fill Neck was leaking, I would smell gas, and it would throw the code no matter how much fuel was in the tank.
