Default Parking Brake

Basically, the parking brake used to work and for no reason, it just stopped working. The mechanism for some unknown reason won't lock. Any suggestions?

Maybe a snapped cable?

Well, I wondered that but I checked all my cables inside and out, but they all were fine.

Have you pulled off your rear rotors and checked things out?

So the pedal will just not lock in place? If that is so, then it is not unheard of. Sometimes the locking mechanism will lock up (no pun intended). Spray some WD40 on the assembly and work it. You may have to remove the kick panel to access the mechanism.

Sometimes the pedal locking mechanism goes kaput, like mine did, and has to be replaced.

It was done as part of some extended warranty work, but I believe its share would have been ~$150.
