Play in axle
Hi,
While I was changing my parking brake shoes earlier I noticed each rear driveshaft could be pulled in & out by about a 1/16 of an inch. Is this normal? There is no side to side play which would suggest worn bearings & there is no noise when driving. I understand the shafts are retained by C-clips inside the differential, is it possible that these are worn & causing play? Can the shafts be shimmed in any way to eliminate play?
Any advise would be appreciated.

Thank you for that - puts my mind at rest.
I have my annual MOT test tomorrow (the UK equivilant of your state inspection), was wondering if they would fail me on it but if that's how they're meant to be then the testing station should be OK with that.
