Exclamation Please help

OK I am a single mom with limited funds. I have a 1995 chevy blazer. Had a check engine light on and , truck was running bad, smelled bad like gas and oil, and shaking alot. Codes came up for a bunch of stuff, random misfire, MAP sensor, temp sensor, and something about a bank running to rich. My mechanic changed the MAP sensor, the cap and rotor, coil pack, plugs , wires and then he said that the injector was leaking gas so he put a new fuel injector in the truck. $500.00 later the truck in running exactly the same. So he said maybe it needs a new computer, so he tried one he had and that was not the problem, so now he says that it is electrical and there must be a short in one of the wires. Does this sound right to anyone , oh yeah and he doesnt do electrical work . Is there something that he is missing. I starting to wonder if he knows what he is doing .

Hello Stephanie and welcome from New York. I do not know what the going rates and prices of where you live are but $500.00 sounds cheap for all that work. I work for a GM dealership and I had most of the same stuff done last year and paid almost that much for the parts at my discounted price. I think a second opinion is needed on the diagnostics before you give him another cent. If you have the codes just search and or post in the 2nd gen thread for answers. Good luck.

Sorry I dont know what the 2gen thread is . I hope you are receiving my reply. I will have to get another list of the codes. I know for sure the one that always comes up is random misfire. I will get the list and repost it. And yes $500 is pretty good , but the truck is not running any better now. the mechanic said that he thought something was wrong with the computer, this was after he changed the fuel injector. Then he checked that out and said it was not the computer , but that there must be a short in a wire , and that is why the truck is running so rich, Anyway I will post the codes later today. I have been trying to learn as much as I can about my Blazer mechanically so when I talk to him I dont seem dumb. I just really cant afford to buy more parts if no one is sure what I really need.

OK , the only code that comes up is P0300 this is
Cylinder mis-fire detected random cylinders
Possible causes
Ignition system fault(plugs, wires, coil)
Vaccum leak
Injector Fault
high or low fuel pressure

So my question is I have addressed all of these probable causes
new plugs, wires, coil, cap rotor, new injector and regulator which Im assuming is responsible for the fuel pressure
Could it be that one of the plugs was not gapped properly, or could it be that the new injector was either installed wrong or damaged while installing, or just bad to begin with. Or does this sould like an electrical problem like my "mechanic" said

I would do a leakdown test.

Get (or rent) a fuel pressure gauge and hook it up. The pump should prime for 2 seconds when you turn the key to 'run'. Check to see what the pressure gets to, it should be above 55psi and when you turn the blazer off, the pressure should stay above 50psi after 10 minutes.

Red face Fuel Pressure Gage

I will get a gage and try that . If the pressure is too low or to high does this mean that I need a new fuel regulator? Because the new injector came with a regulator. Could it be installed incorrectly.

If it drops it probably means you have a leaking 'nut kit' or a bad fuel pump. If it is the fuel pump, please please please get an acdelco or delphi pump. If you go cheap on the pump, you will be replacing it in a few months.
