Default Poor shifting after gas in canister

Hey, I've tried some searching without all that much luck.
Recently changed my fuel pump and connected the lines backwards, flooding my vent valve and canister. Both parts as well as the purge valve on the engine have been replaced and still: getting poor mileage, intermittent trouble during first two shifts and also when I 'fill up' the gas gauge only registers to right on or just under the full line. It used to go way past the full line and wouldn't drop until oer 100 km. Now after 40 km, it drops almost a 1/4 tank.
The CEL light goes on and off. I'm sure its an EVAP code but I don't have a reader.

So I'm thinking that I need to follow the line from the canister to wherever this air goes and clean each part/line along the way. Anyone have any ideas of all the parts that could now have carbon buildup and stuff from the canister?

Or could this be some other issue?

2000, 2 dr.

Thanks guys

Not sure why any of this would screw your shift. Did you buy a entire new pump unit or just break open the one you had and just do the pump.

The gage problem could be just a bad ground from the sender to the frame, the sending unit works on ground resistance.

Sounds like to me a cheap aftermarket pump/unit,and a coincidence of a trans having issues.

both common. ONLY buy ac delco/delphi pumps etc.

as for trans, all i can say is drive it till the code pops up,and take it to autozone, oreillys, etc to have codes checked for free..post them here.

It's an AC delco pump so it BETTER NOT be the pump!
Sorry I should clarify, it's been running a bit rough like when you get water in the gas etc and it's especially rough during the first 2 shifts.

Better not be my tranny either, I replaced that 1 year ago almost exactly. Do we have autozone or oreily's in Canada??
Lol Canadian Tire and PartSource both charge a lot to read codes.

I just assumed it's running like this due to charcoal coming out of the canister and clogging everything that's why I'm asking what the flowpath is from the canister. I already sprayed carb cleaner down the line from engine to canister (unhooked both ends obviously) and blew air through with a can of computer duster (I might do it again at my dads with an air compressor).
