Power door lock Fuse blowing sometimes
#1
I just picked up a 2001 Blazer LT with power everything. I am having issue with the power locks. Every once in a while when I lock the doors the fuse will blow. If I replace it it may work fine for days. I have had it blow with either of the front switched and the FOB. I imagine there is a short but I am not sure why it is so intermittent. Where is a common place to start looking for a short in the power lock circuit?
Thanks

Not even 12 hours...[&o] Its the weekend man, have some patience, please.
It is possible that one or more of the lock actuators is pulling more amperage than they are supposed to which is causing the fuse to blow. If it is the factory fuse rating, which I believe is 15A, you may want to try a 20A and see how long that goes for. If that blows, the next thing I would try is pulling the latches and giving them a thorough cleaning. If the latches are dirty and/or dry (no lubricant), the actuator may be working harder, causing the higher circuit load.

Sorry about that. Just trying to give it a bump. I belong to several computer forums and there is usually an answer in minutes.
I did put a 20 in it already. Still pops. Right now it is working by me locking the doors with the driver door button and unlocking with the FOB. I took the front panels loose and moved the linkage to lock and unlock the front doors. It seemed very easy to move. I will try the back doors. The last time the fuse blew, I used the passenger button to lock the doors. Time before that was the FOB. I am trying to see if it has anything to do with any thing else other than just the locks. Is there wiring under the seats or any where that if I move something it could touch a wire with the insulation rubbed off? It just seems very intermittent.
Thanks for your reply.

This is still working so far. Only if I lock it with the driver door and unlock it with the FOB.
I will give it a little time. It is supposed to warm up a little this weekend. I may trace the wiring to see if i can find a bare or pinched wire.
Do these wires run any where that would cause it to be an intermittent problem?

Today I locked it with the FOB and it blew the fuse immediately. Is there a diagram of the power locks available? It has to be going via a different route when the FOB is used.

Does no one know where to find the wiring diagram of the keyless entry?

Here is a post that shows the schematics for the Power locks.
And here is the schematic showing the RKE module itself:

Thanks. I could not find this with the search. Even though I though I saw it before.
OK here is what i have.
Lock the doors with the driver door button = works fine
Lock the doors with the FOB = fuse blows
Lock the doors with the pass door button = fuse blows (I will reconfirm this, did it twice and did not want to keep replacing fuses)
Unlock the doors with the FOB = works fine (even if I press it multiple times to unlock all doors or pop the hatch)
I am guessing the BCM is not right. Any input?
