Default Power Seat Binding in Full Forward Position

Hello all. I'm a new member trying to learn about the nuances of 1999 Chevy S10 Blazer 2-Door vehicle. It's actually my father's, but I've been enlisted to help fix it from time to time. I haven't done much work to it other than the battery, door hinge pins, rotor and cap and fuel pump, but I will provide input where I can. In this instance, I'm requesting help in fixing the driver's side power seat. We had to put it all the way forward to get something in the back, and now the seat won't go back. I took a peek under the seat and all motors are functional in that they're trying to move the seat, but something is preventing the jack screws from working properly, and the seat gets cocked.

Along the front side of the seat is a motor and bar that connects to the jack screws on the rails that move the seat forwards or backwards. As your sitting in the vehicle, it's the right side of this mechanical connection where I can see the binding occurring, and I've highlighted an area that may be suspect. There are two plastic covers, one on each side of the bar connected to the motor. That plastic cover is in place on the left side but not on the right (where the bind occurs). As I press the button to move the seat back and look at the area where the cover should be on the right side, I see what is likely the connection between the the motor and jack screw moving in and out, which to me implies the mechanical connection isn't made.

What role do those covers play in these seats? Basically, if I find one of these and install it, should the seat work properly? I appreciate any inputs.
