Default power steering

My steering is extremely tight when at idle speeds. If I press down on the gas pedal, the steering relaxes and works fine. The power steering pump was replaced in January. Any ideas out there?

Loose/worn belt, if it's loose then look at the tensioner pully, is the front end all greased up properly, low fluid & just because it's "new" doesn't mean it's right. It may be defective.

I checked what you suggested to check, and they were good. I took it in and it was indeed a defective pump. They replaced it under warranty. You were right on the money. Thanks.
