I just purchased anused Blazer, 2002 4x4 4WD but with ridiculously low miles: 43,000. Per Carfax, this is legit, just a leasee that never drove more than 9K a year although they were pretty hard on the interior. By the smell of it they had a big dog

Anyway, to my knowledge, the following has been worked on/replaced:

1. Battery & Alternator
2. Passenger side axle(cracked CV boot)
3.New Rear Rotors and Pads(old ones were super-worn out)
4. Radiator flush(really gunky)
5.Replaced Air filter(superdirty)
6. New Tires(235/75s)
7. Oil changed, lubed chasi
8. New serpentine belt

It has the following items that still need repaired/replaced or were suggested to be replaced:

1. Idler/Pittman @ 50,000(based on current condition)
2. Dome light stays on sometimes(probably a faulty door-closed indicator switch)
3. Gas gauge reads very low, after 8-10 gallons it's telling me I'm almost empty
4. Fuel pump @ 100,000 miles
5. Oil Cooler lines @ 100,000 miles
6. Front bearings @100,000 miles

I had a Chevy dealer and an NTB shop look it over and only noted the above items and said the transmission fluid looked clean. As my family will be riding in this on long trips, I would like to keep this in tip-top shape and as reliable as possible.For this vehicles mileage(43K) and age(5 years), is there any "preventative maintenance" that you would suggest I do in the next 6 months? Thanks!

NOTE: No need to go into detail, I'm sure I can find a description of the process for any service on other posts.

 

I would install an auxilliary transmission oil cooler.

As far as other PM, just make sure that you keep everything greased and well lubricated. You may want to drop the rear diff cover, clean it out, and refill with fresh gear lube. Drain and refill the front diff as well.

Just go through the vehicle and make sure that the fluid levels are all to spec.

It probably wouldn't hurt to drop the trans pan just to replace the fluid. While you have the pan off, probably wouldn't hurt to throw a new filter on and add a drain plug to the pan. This way, you can drain the transmission every 25-30k miles to really prevent any problems.
