Default Problem Starting

Hey Guys,

I have a 2002 GMC Sonoma 4WD ZR5 (Equivalent to a Blazer 4Dr.) Basically, drove fine, no problems at all. I went home, went to go take a family member home, and she doesn't start. She doesn't try to start or turn over, just a single click or tick and thats it. I assume its the starter? Is there anything I can check before I confirm that, like a fuse etc? Where is it, and how easy is it to replace? Can I do like I did on my dad's old '92 Cav Wagon and bang on it and see if I can get it to start?

Oh and btw, I already tried yelling at it, that did nothing..

When a car won't crank I always turn on the headlights and have them try to crank it while watching the intensity of the headlights brightness. This will answer the battery voltage question quickly without a volt meter. The lights will go almost out when a battery or voltage falls too far while cranking.

The lights will do the same thing more often then not if the starter has locked up.

Oddly enough I have had to replace dozens of starters over the years and not one has ever failed on a warm sunny day.

It was the starter, which had a good life considering it was stock at 130k miles. I paid my uncle to replace it who taught me to do it as well. Didn't turn out to be that hard.
