question about Replacement of A/C pressure switch on 97 s10 blazer
I have a 97 S10 blazer and need to replace the pressure switch on the AC compressor. It plugs into the accumulator on the top of the compressor. Is this something that just plugs in and I can do at home or do i need to take it to a pro and let them do it ? It looks like it just plugs in but I do not want a face full of freon, can anyone tell me how to do it ? Or even if I can do it without taking it to the shop. Thank you.

If you are talking about the high side pressure switch, you need to recover the refrigerant first. Removal of the high pressure switch will blow the charge. Once the system has been drained, the switch is held in by a snap ring.

BUT - if it truly is on the accumilator (BIG silver can located by the heater box) the it simply threads onto a shrader valve. Which means you can unplug it and then just spin it off. No refrigerant loss.
Your post is confusing because you counterdicted yourself. (Pressure switch on the compressor vs accumilator vs accumilater located ontop of compressor.) The high pressure switch is located on the back of my compressor. The low pressure switch is located on the accumilator which is NOT located ontop of the compressor, but back by the trans dip stick. The only plug ontop of the compressor doesnt go to the switch, it goes to the clutch.
