quick fuel pump/pressure question?

That's what I have. I was wondering what accordion thing everyone was talking about. I went cheap when I replaced the sending unit, didn't get (i.e. couldn't afford) Delphi/Delco. I didn't think there was much to fail beside the gauge. (Which I could live with, considering the price difference) A small crack in one of those 90* bends might explain my lack of pressure and leak down problems. I didn't even think to check it when I replaced the fuel pump yesterday. Great, now I have to drain and drop the @#!$*&# tank again!

It would have been in-between the fuel pump and were it connects to the hanger in place of the short piece of fuel line they give you with the pump. It was meant to "soften" the hydrostatic shock through the system extending the life of the components. As it turns out it did more harm then good by always leaking. The consensus is that the three sections of rubber in the fuel line set -up were enough to dampen the shock.
In a nutshell if you don't have it don't worry about it, someone got rid of it before you got the truck.

Well, just dropped the tank again. I was hoping to find a crack or leak or something in the sending unit, but there isn't one. I plugged one end, and blew into the other until I thought I was going to blow a vein in my forehead. I even submerged it in water and blew into it hoping to find a bubble, or something. Nothing. That sending unit is air tight. I even tried blowing backwards into the pump. Nothing. Held air. I don't know what else it could be. Other than trying another regulator, I'm at a loss.
