Hey guys, need some helpful info.. So it looks like my water pump is on its last leg as I notice anti-freeze leaking from the bottom of the truck. We tried in vain to find the actual spot were it was coming out of but no success, my question is: is there anyway to verify if the water pump is dying?, from what I can see underneath after removing the skid plate that seems to be the source. Next question is: is it worth replacing the water pump or just the gaskets , if its only the gaskets that are the issue? As well approx. how many hours to do the repair? And can anyone provide a AC Delco part # to the water pump? or are there any aftermarket/generic that will do the job at 1/2 the price? Any other parts I should be looking at replacing at that time (ie. hoses etc)....
Any info. will be appreciated

how many miles on rig? the water pumps have seep holes on the bottom side nose of the pump and 99% of the time they go bad they will leak from there... if you can see coolant kinda of everywhere around the crank pulley and timing cover it is more than likely comin from there and the fan is blowing it everywhere.... if its the gaskets it will leak down and you will kinda see a line from the leak... honestly water pumps arent horribly expensive and aftermarket (non delco) work just fine and i would just do the whole pump besides just gaskets cuz if you do just gaksets and it is the pump then you have to do it again and you need to rent a fan-clutch tool to do the job

Full agreement with jdub9000! Just slam a pump in there,gives you an opportunity to fully inspect the hoses and flush the system as well:summer IS coming! BTW you don't have to rent the tool if you have access to a large strap wrench(the type used in plumbing work) just wrap it around the pulley and you are done in a cinch(pun intended)

k....it looks the leak is on the intake which means the gaskets but the good news is a few of the bolts were tighten to slow the leaking process....the downside is I did my engine coolant flush last fall + tranny (199 000 km). Is it worth replacing any rad hoses? Asking cause I did once on an another vehicle and found the coolant would leak with the newer hoses
Anything posted in the DIY section on replacing gaskets on the intake?
