Default Rear Axle Vent Question

I just noticed the rear axle vent tube has become detached on my 2003 2Dr Blazer ZR2 and that the vent nozzle it attaches to has become significantly corroded. Is that nozzle replaceable? I've been unable to determine if it is a screw-in nozzle or is permanently built into the axle housing.

Should be a press-in fitting. P/N 26062696 at your local GM dealer or Ebay. Drive it in with a deep socket that will clear the nipple.

Thanks. Unfortunately every source I look at indicates that part number isn't compatible with models after 99. I cant find it on diagrams for the 2003 rear axle/diff though.

Better check to see if WATER got in the diff. "Corroded" means WATER...

OK cool. Thanks very much for your help. Now I just have to figure out how to remove the remnants of the old one without having to take apart the whole rear end.

probably an "easy out" will work best if there is a metal ring left inside of the hole in the housing from a broken-off fitting. I wouldn't push it in.

Good luck.

You also might be able to tap the inside of the broken piece, then use a bolt with a washer and a socket to pull it out. Use grease on the tap to avoid getting shavings in the housing.
