Rear crossmember looking bad
So I have a loud bang every time I hit a bump. Looked underneath the rear and seen the crossmember is nearly detached from the frame. Rear right. Can this be salvaged? This is my daily driver.
From rear right wheel well
The block is there to keep it from bottoming out.

It can be salvaged, but not without a lot of work. Your best bet would be to remove as much of the rear frame as necessary and replace it with part of a frame from a rust-free vehicle. Like I said, it's going to be a big job.

Rust has taken it's toll. Sorry to say but at this point trade it in and hope they don't drive it over bumps. See ones just like that on Craigslist all the time here in North Central Indiana. Nice clean Blazers with rusted out frames. Hope mine will last a few more years. The Avalanche I just went to South Carolina to buy last year I had "Krowned". This is the Canadian rustproofing that is reported to actually work. It is sticky oily stuff they spray everywhere inside through holes and underneath on body, frame, and lines. It creeps into crevices - but needs to be redone each year. Drips for a few days. I drove to Detroit area to have it done. Think I'll also do the Blazer next time. Can't hurt.

so quite a bit of sanding and welding won't work?

There just isn't much there to weld to. You could sandblast it and weld plates over the rusted parts, but it's going to be easier in the long run to graft on a section of frame.

yeah the rest of the vehicle is in great shape. Just the rear end. And of course the fuel gauge is going crazy. Most likely the ground on that rusted crossmember
