I didn't have to drop the crossmember on my '00 Bravada, but some do require it.

Mine requires the crossmember be dropped. I didn't know how so I took it to my friend at a transmision shop who helped me for free. He took off the crossmember with one hand in about 5 seconds! It's simple to do, but it really helps if you can put it up on a lift like one at a shop so you can see clearly how to do it. I'm sure there's a transmission shop somewhere that would be nice enough not to charge to just move the crossmember and tighten a bolt for you.

Ok I see....
With a floor jack, I suspended the trany just so that it had a little pressure then.I removed all 4 bolts of the crossmember in the frame and with a hammer,I gently slamed it 1/2 inch horizontal so that the Pan would drop.It worked but I forgot to put back my oil Pan when it dropped, now its full of oil in my driveway(thanks good I managed to empty most of it when I removed my pan bolts)...
Thanks for your replies!
