Rear disc parking brake help
Does anyone know the part number or name of the neoprene dust boot that covers the parking brake lever? Looks to be un-obtainable, or has obscure name that I need to ask parts guy for...
Can't even find a parts breakdown online showing the boot.
GM parts shows exploded rear disc + parking shoe assemblies but not the adjuster or the boot.

I pride myself on being able to sleuth out part numbers but I've come up with nothing on this one.
The closest I could was that the rubber covers are supplied as part of a park-brake rebuild kit.
This is the page I found that has the best exploded diagrams where I looked:

I used it to figure out that these only come as part of kits such as these: GM 12376596:

Figured the brake parts were obsolete along with the HID's.
Will coat everything with NeverSeize and pack with grease...
There is a workaround for the HID's, and its simple. Feel for all the owners that were faced with burnt out HID's and retrofitted halogen lamps and housings.
Envoy and Diamond editions were the 1st GM's iteration of HID headlamps.
One would think that GM would use existing European HID specifications. They did not!
Instead they based the focal length and lens on halogen 9006 bulb.
So what we have is HID headlamp with some North American beam pattern characteristics, adding EU required shields, but without the sharp cutoff of EU headlamps.
The standard HID bulbs whether Asian, European and North American used in every other OEM are all the wrong focal length and exhibit poor beam pattern and excessive glare, when used in Envoy or Diamonds.
It so happens that the cheap 9006 HID conversion kits are exactly the same length as factory GM bulbs!
The factory GM color temperature chosen was 4800K.
All OEM HID's are 4300K.
Really cant fault GM that much as engineers went with what engineering they already had with halogens.
Should they have gone with European specifications? Probably.
Stock Envoy HID's headlamps are VERY GOOD and hold up well compared to current HID's, really there only shortfall is the EU sharp beam cut off, resulting in some of light escaping upwards to illuminate signs instead of focused on road ahead(an idiotic SAE standard).

Dang, these look correct but the NAPA site says that won't fit my 99 Blazer. I might get them anyway to try.

sure enough NAPA has them in stock. Will overnight them from Vancouver to Sidney.
Price on Vancouver Island is higher at $24.11 with tax. Reasonable considering they are hard to source.
