Default Rear glass strut rivet removal

Hi all, this is my first post here. I have an '04 4x4 4 door blazer, and my rear glass struts have some major sag. I purchased a new pair for replacement and am having trouble figuring out how to remove the current struts. The bottom connecting point is simple, the usual ball connector I can release by prying the locking tab. The top however is a connection I haven't dealt with, there's basically a metal eyelet with a tapered plastic piece (on the strut itself) being held to the glass by a straight metal rod with a pressure washer of sorts.

How in the world do I remove the metal rivet/rod to release the strut from the top portion of my rear glass? I've tried prying, punching, even breaking the current strut off to no avail. My next move would have been to cut the mounting bar off and try to find a replacement to reinstall the new struts, but feel that there's an easier way to go about it. After hours of searching online I can't seem to find an answer. Thanks for the help folks.

Just pry the push-nut off of the stud with a screwdriver and buy a new push-nut. Squeeze new push-nut back on with large pliers such as channel locks and a small socket to fit over the stud where it comes through.
I would find the correct diameter push-nut before removing the old one. Try Ace Hardware.

If you like to live on the edge, you can pry the push nut off carefully and then try to squeeze it back into original shape with needlenose pliers. It's been done many times, but no guarantees.

Good luck and best wishes for a successful repair.

I'd just assume put a bolt and nylon lock-nut on it instead of putting another pin and push-nut back on...

But what Lesmyer said, stick a flat head under it and twist, it'll pop off. They're typically a one-time use part...
