rear window defroster
Hi, I found that one of the feeder wires attached to the rear window defroster has fallen off (the wire is still attached to the plug the part that the plug plugs into fell off of the grid) Can this be soldered back on? Thanks
they make a defroster repair kit to fix the grid. it contains an electrically conductive paint.
use a rear view mirror adhesive kit to attach the connector
to the glass.
get it right the first time or its there for ever, then paint the connector to the grid.
(just clean the connector with acetone and scuff it with a scotch brite before you glue it to your glass.
you can clean the grid with the acetone or rubbing alcohol using a q-tip and then clean it with the cleaner/primer the mirror adhesive comes with then glue it on and use a strip of blue painters tape to hold it in place for 15 mins)
then like i said paint the connector to the grid

(mirror adhesive kit. autozone, oreiley, napa.) (defroster repair napa, carquest auto and frank and edwards.) but im in utah so probably no frank and edwards. but carquest, autozone, napa and advanced auto should help.
The auto stores have a rear window defogger adheasive that has the conductive material already in it. Just follow the directions and stick it on. Be sure to let it set up as long or longer than the directions say, particularly if it is cold so it will be secure.
cool i havnt done it in a few its nice that someone made a kit for that. im used to old school fixes. back in the day we had to make do with what was available. wish i had packaged some of my fixes back then. could be cashing in on that stuff.
