Rear wiper problems

Hoy all,
I've been having a problem with the rear window wiper not retracting to the park stop on the tailgate. I found it would do this intermittently, but it was due to leaving the wiper on and turning off the ignition. After restarting the Blazer, the wiper would continue to work. But when the wiper was turned off it wouldn't return to the park location. After several cycles it would return to park. I've gotten better at remembering to turn the rear wiper off before turning the ignition off. But $#!+ happens and I forget sometimes.
Earlier this week the wiper was in the park location, and used to clean the rear window. Since then, the rear wiper will not return to the park position no mater how the wiper is used (continuous, intermittent, with washer).
I've searched here and also Googled to find some info on this problem; resulting with no definitive answer. I'd love to solve this problem before I accidentally close the rear glass on the wiper and destroy it or the glass.
