Default Rear Wiper Stuck In Cradle

I have an '01 S-10 Blazer with the lift hatch and flipper window. When I hit the rear window wiper switch the wiper raises about an inch but won't do any farther. I can physically pull the wiper out of the cradle which puts it about and inch away from the glass and hit the switch and it works fine until I turn it off and it goes back into the cradle. I am guessing there might be a switch that prevents the wiper from working when the flipper glass is up.

Any suggestions on how to remedy this would be appreciated.

Rick

I think ther eis a switch combined in the wiring. When you take Door panel off the rear hatch you can get a better read on it. I didn't pay too much attention when I cleaned up my wiper motor. If you take the panel off do not forget the screw that is at the Glass to hatch Latch.

These wipers motors are known for resting up internaly.
The resistance of the Wiper on the glass might just be enough to stall the motor with a rusted shaft.

Now I know this sounds stupid, but...
On my 1998, my motor did the same thing. I took the motor out, and tested it...but it worked. I then was able to then say it was the switch, or the wires. When I pulled the switch out of the dashboard trim, I noticed that one of the wires was attached, but barely. I pushed the wire back in, and it worked for the remaining years I had it. (yellow one?) But after reading your post, I can remember the frustration I went through. The solution didn't make sense, but it is a Blazer afterall... I have mechanics baffled by my Blazer stories! ...good luck dude!

What is really puzzling to me is that the wiper works fine if I pull the wiper arm out of the cradle then hit the switch which tells me the motor and switch are fine. There is a plastic fin pop riveted into the bottom of the wiper arm where it goes into the cradle that I may remove to see if it is for some reason binding.

I would remove da wooden ARM and then remont it in a way so it wouldn't get stuck at that point again

I am not sure if that is the fix because it has to raise about 4" before it starts wiping the glass and doesn't return to that lower position until the switch is turned off.
