rebuilt pump-still no start
Alright, maybe I'm just cheap, but I have a 96 blazer 4-door that i bought a fuel pump "re-build" kit for. About a week ago she wouldn't start and the pump wasn't hummin' or anything so down comes the fuel tank ( while breaking the fuel tank vent valve and a hanger bolt of course!). I pulled the old pump assemblyand rebuilt it with this kit that contained a new pump, new hoses, and socks. Tested it before i even put it back in the tank and got good juice to the pump and the connections from the harness. Put brand new return and feed lines along with a fuel filter and reinstalled the tank. Threw in 6 gallons of fuel and turned the key 4 times to "prime" the fuel lines. NO START!! Stuck a pin in the fuel pressure outlet and a little bit of air and fuel spit out, so i primed it again and still nothing! Now when i check the fuel pressure nozzle there is nothing coming out!! So next I unhooked the fuel filter and yes fuel came out. Why in the heck would there be fuel in the filter but none at all in the fuel pressure nozzle?? I pulled a plug to see if they were getting gas, but they were bone dry. Threw a little fuel into the intake and she ran for a second. Is the fact I'm a cheap *** and only rebuilt the pump assembly maybe causing very low fuel pressure or none at all? Every time I turn the key I hear the damn thing humming!!! Anybody have any ideas?? Thanks for reading all this crap!
Knowledge is king. Nothing wrong with being cheap, but dont pay too much for your education. You will spend a lot of time and significant moneyguessing the problem.
Prove you have sufficent fuel pressure. Then you will know what to do next.

If you have bad pressure its the pump, if the pressure is good its the fuel injection module itself(in the intake plenum) im not sure if your year has a fuel injection spider or not if it did its inside the intake. 9 times out of ten when the pump goes the fuel injection module will follow.
I would love to see where that statistic came from... Is that for CPI or SCFI motors (or both)?
And a FPR problem can and often will cause low fuel pressure. FPR is independent of the injection spider. If an injector and poppet are hung open, then you can have a pressure bleed down problem, but these things are all easily checked before jumping to the expensive conclusion of needing a new spider.
