Default Regluing rear view mirror

My Inside RVM fell off heat exhaustion). The instructions for the glue to put it back on want me to remove the "button" and glue that on, then attach the rest of the mirror.
So how has anyone gotten the button out? It looks like it should slide but...

Well, nevermind. Flat blade screwdriver, pry/push from the rounded end.

I'm using the JB Weld "Mirror Weld." Anyone have a suggestion for something else -just in case?

Bring it to a glass shop. I've never found anything in the parts stores that works. You will save a lot of frustration.

I went to a glass shop first and they wanted $40. So I took a chance on JB Weld for $7. Can you buy the professional stuff on line?
