remote front driver's door lock not always working
Have any of you had the problem that the front driver's door is not always locking when the key-fob is used? I am having trouble recreating the symptoms but when it happens, the other doors will lock but not the driver's front door. Sometimes a second push of the lock button on the fob will get it to lock but sometimes I have to manually lock it using the inside electrical lock button.
Any ideas what could be the issue?

Will it work sometimes but not others when it is failing?

The part number for the actuator/lock assembly is 15066140.
Here are pictures from the Dorman website:

Yeah my mechanic replaced the whole thing. What I was experiencing was that my driver side door lock would lock the door but not open it, my key fob wouldn't do anything on that door, and the actual Lock/Unlock button on the door itself did nothing. I just double checked my invoice from him and it was indeed the entire piece with locking mechanism. He didn't list a brand but iirc I told him to go with OEM where possible.

I think I'll live with this until it warms up and I can drive my other (non-snow) car in case the I can't get the door fixed easily.

Right. So I think I figured out what is going on. The driver's door will only lock via the keyless entry fob when the driver's door is closed. It will lock the other doors but not the driver's door when the driver's door is open. This is with the key not in the ignition.
I found a "Lockout Prevention" feature mentioned in the owners manual that sounded a bit like this but the description does not quite match what I'm seeing.
'Lockout Prevention
To protect you from locking your key in the vehicle, this
feature stops the power door locks from locking when
the keys are in the ignition and a door is open.
If the power lock switch is pressed when a door is open
and the key is in the ignition, all the doors will lock and
the driver’s door will unlock.'
Does anyone else have experience with this? Is what mine is doing sound familiar?
I guess I could do a test by tripping the door lock mechanism with the door open to see if the difference is the if the door lock mechanism is tripped or not.
