To the original poster (and to anyone who has a similar problem): The ABS did not cause your issue. Your brake fluid has water in it, plain and simple. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, and will absorb water by nature. What happened was, the brakes heated up and the water boiled, causing the brakes to go to the floor. Once the system cooled down, you have brakes again.

Fully bleed and replace your brake fluid, or it's going to happen again.

Jigg, I think what happened in this case if I can read that jibber-jabber right, is that when the bearing was going out, he lost brake pedal, and that was due to in my opinion, was the caliper piston was being forced back into the caliper due to the wobble of the rotor. I have seen this hundreds of times.

That bearing must've been really bad for it to wobble enough to force the piston back into the caliper.

I dunno, i still think it's the brake fluid. I've had it happen to me and it had the exact same symptoms.

Symptoms can say more than one thing. I am sure that everyone just misunderstood the situation because if you read it fast enough you miss some of the important facts in the problem...This is why repairs to vehicles cost so much when the owner tells the service deptment what noise or condition they are feeling. Especially when the problem comes and goes...

Jmann:

You could also have a sun/planetary gear set going bad. They wear out and get rounded off and then can either fail completely - no go - or fail partially which could cause a vibration with extra load of trying to pass another vehicle. It could also be the torque converter slipping in and out of lock-up so the condition you describe could be many things...get the computer scanned, that is why OBDI/II were developed to reduce the amount of time it takes to repair the vehicle....
