Replaced hubs, no o ring.
#1
Hello, I had a bad bearing in a hub. Went ahead and replaced both of them. One came with the o ring and other did not. After going to two advance auto parts couldnt find another gasket.
So I put some red gasket maker on in replace of o ring. Is this ok? Will it even last long?

the bearing is a sealed unit. ive been a mechanic for a few years and have seen a few o-rings. and i dont know what the heck they even do. i think they just keep water out from between the bearing and kunckle so 20 years later when you go to replace it it doesnt rot in there. i just put anti seize everywhere in there. but yeah your fine without it
