I have also seen them at Pick and Pull wreckers but a little harder to find the number you need. These are the instructions Ive used on my astro and jimmy , but I don't know what years can be done this way...Its the same as the video above.

1. Close all the vehicle doors.

2. Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder.
Do not turn ignition switch.

3. Press and hold the Door unlock switch.
(This is the switch on the door, not the remote).

4. While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position,
cycle the ignition on/off, on/off (3 times).

5. Release the Door unlock switch.
The doors will lock and unlock one time to confirm the program mode is actuated.
Remove the key from the ignition.

6. Simultaneously press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on a keyless remote for 15 seconds.
The doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of that transmitter.

7. Repeat the previous step to program up to four transmitters.
Reprogram any existing remotes at this time as they have been erased.

8. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to exit the keyless entry transmitter mode.
(It’s one more click forward)

9. Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.

Did mine the exact same way. Only took minutes.

Thanks everyone for your input, but I have decided to push this way down the list of things to do on my truck. I have come to the realization that with a 20 year old vehicle there are somethings that jut ain't going to work the way they should

Thank you again

No need to buy it from online sites, consider contacting dealer or any locksmith. They will do replacement in a better way.

lol , when I phoned the dealer they wanted $125 for the fob and $125 for programming...... since you can program it yourself and buy it cheaper on any online site , the last place I would ever go would be the stealership ..... nothing but a bunch of crooked thieves. If you buy a GM part to program the dealer is doing nothing better than you but taking your money.

Default OK the saga continues

Well the other day I was messing around Amazon.ca and I ran across a replacement key FOB and the description says that it "fits my 1998 Chevy Blazer". I have got several items over the past year from Amazon for different things and all of them have worked for what I was trying to accomplish, It is Only 20 bucks CA $ so I thought what the f*** may as well give it a shot,

will see what happens when It arrives and will let you know

regards

The Saga continues. I received the replacement FOB this morning in the mail. Tried to program it as the instructions above. No GO..I kind of had my suspicions when it was only a 3 button

I did like I was told above and did a search by the OEM Part number 12495653 and found one that is a refurbished job. Ordered and will see it that one works. At least this one is a 4 button OEM with the right part number

we will see

regards
