Default Replacement shocks

I liked my OEM shocks but alas, after 200,000 miles, they are worn out. Whats the closest aftermarket brand and model?

Thanks,

George

Figure out what you have first. Look at the sticker in the glove box, the "SPIDS," which has the RPO codes for everything in your Blazer. The suspension related codes will tell you which springs and shocks you had from the factory.

ZR2 is the "Higher wider" package, and you probably don't have that. The shocks and suspension parts for that are all unique to that package. If you have that, you need shocks that match that RPO code/package.

Z85 is the "Extended load" or heavy duty suspension. It's usually coupled with Z82 and was sold as the "Tow package" or "trailering package."

ZW7 is the "Smooth ride chassis" package" with softer springs and matching softer shocks.

AC-Delco has several different shocks to match OE specs based on your specific suspension.

In the aftermarket (other than AC-Delco), I've always had good luck with Monroe shocks, and in recent years, I've run some Gabriel "Ultra Truck" shocks with good results on some of the "truck-ish" vehicles I've owned or maintained for friends/customers (Ford Exploder, Chrysler Minivan, Jeep Cherokee).

All of these are available online from Amazon vendors, or from rockauto.com, and are priced fairly competitively.

I have the Z85 package. Does anyone know which aftermarket shocks equate to these?

Thanks,

George

For the 4 door LS in 2002, with the Z85 chassis package,

4WD Front AC-Delco 540-41
4WD Rear AC-Delco 540-43

Those are exact OE replacements from AC-Delco.

Monroe 37099 (front) and 37021 (rear) will fit. Monroe lists those for all LS models, regardless of chassis package. The Monroe "Reflex" that were mentioned are a slightly stiffer, "performance" version. For yours, the Reflex part numbers are 911099 (front, 4WD) and 911021 (rear).
