Default Replacing crankshaft on 2000 blazer

People at my shop are saying that I do not have to relearn the crankshaft Sensor after I replace it. Can someone tell me if that’s true or not?

I've not attempted this and can't say with certainty, but everything I've read to this point says that relearning the crank is pretty critical and can't really be skipped.

Good luck.

I replaced my sensor and didn't do a relearn. It runs fine. YMMV.

Crank sensor relearn isn't for performance - it's calibrating the system for the purpose of misfire detection. Yes it should be done every time the crank sensor is replaced or disturbed. Yes it should be done when you replace the crankshaft, if that is your question. Might you get lucky and have the old calibration work so the SES light is not on with a false P030x code - maybe. Just don't be surprised if you need to do it to get the SES light off. I am guessing that your shop does not have the capability to do the crank sensor relearn.

Mine doesn't have the SES light on, either, so I got lucky.

Yes, a number of people have reported your experience. I'm not saying that it can't happen - but factory manual says to do it whenever the sensor is replaced or disturbed - so I believe that is the correct answer to his question. Lots of people needlessly replacing crank sensors and end up chasing false misfire codes for this very reason.
