replacing front axle HELP

iv been trying to replace my front driver side axle the only place that is left to get it out of is from the dif. but im not sure how i thought it would just slide out but no such luck. its on a 99 chevy trail blazer (s10blazer body style) i have everything else dont the other end is out of the roter part just the part that connects to the front axle is left how do i get that out?

It comes out with some persuasion. There is a retaining ring inside that needs to open up to slip out of the groove it slips into when the CV shaft is fully inserted. You may have to use a 5lb hammer and a block of wood to persuade it.
