Reprogramming to run?
I have the afore mentioned 1995 Blazerwith the 'W' vortec 4.3 and bought a used PCM from an Identical Blazer LT 4x4 with the same #'s all over it. I just got done installing it. Is it OK to hook the battery back up and fire it up without any other programming? It is the OBD 2 hookup. I have a actron code reader that works fine foe scanning, code reading and erasing, but no programming. I figure that the only thing different is the VIN# burned into it. I would like to see if anyone has tryed this, even a newer model (1996 or newer).

It may have the OBD2 connector on it, but you need to verify that both are the same version. If the sticker under the donor hood says OBD1 certified and the reciepient vehicle says OBD1 certified, you are good to go. No further programming is needed.
Plug it in and fire it up.
1996 and newer, you are looking at OBD2 certified.
Some 1995 GM's have the OBD2 connector, but are not true OBD2 systems. More like OBD1.5.
GM implemented the 1.5 as a test phase prior to the government forcing the OBD2 upgrade for 1996 and newer vehicles.
Some cheap code readers will not work on the 1.5 systems. Pay particular attention to the year coverage on the product.

I did the exact same thing with my 95 and it worked. Of course it didn't solve my problem but the car runs.
