Post Ring & Pinion Questions

i ruined my ring and pinion gears and i found a good deal on a new set and i was wondering if it would be better to take my truck to a shop to have them install it, or do it myself. i really don't have any experience with this stuff so i have no idea how complicated it is. also if i did it myself could someone walk me through it? i have a 96 blazer ls 4x4 3.42 ratio 7/58 gear.

There are many references online about installing a ring and pinion set. There are going to be some specialized tools that you are going to need to do it. I will also tell you that an improperly setup rear end can destroy itself rather quickly.
