I installed a G80 locking differential into my 2000 GMC Jimmy. In the process the rear disc brake shields and diff cover were very rusty. I pulled 2 dust shields from the junk yard and blasted, epoxy primed, spray painted flat black and coated with 2K Clear. See attached pics. Blasting Rear Dif. Cover. Rusty Rear Disc Brake Dust Shields Junkyard Shields blasted & ready for paint. Painting and clear coating complete front Painting and coating complete back. Note: I also picked up magnet from a diff cover in the junkyard & used marine epoxy to secure magnet G80 installed and refinished cover installed.
The junkyard dust shields cost me $12 for the pair. I had all the material and time to refinish the dust shields and diff cover.
I used my labor instead of my cash to get the same outcome. Your original dust shields were really toast. I like the diff cover painted red.
