S10 -97; Power problem
Hi guys,
I sold my blazer to my dad so yesterday when he had planned to start using it on a daily basis it stopped working.
What happened is that he were stopping by a friend and before he put it in P the engine shut off on idle rpm.
Now there's no light at all in the instrument by the wheel. And he can not put the transmission out of P. I know there's an electric lock.
Everything else works, radio and other power dependent things. It cranks and the fuel pump works, but it doesn't start.
Where do we start look for problem? It seems to be related to the instrument housing in some way.
I would really appreciate help!
Regards Magnus

I would start by getting the owners manual, a good wiring diagram, and a multimeter. Study where all the power comes from and check all fuses and fusible links. Could be just a blown fuse. (Thats what the owners manual is good for)
Could be a fusible link. (Thats what the wiring diagram is good for)
Testing and studying is going to be the best thing you can do before you run out and start buying parts. You should be able to troubleshoot and diagnose this problem with the three things I suggested without buying a single part. Its not cheap to guess!
Good Luck!
