I have a 96 Blazer 2wd. I am looking for a scan tool that can read all the systems in the vehicle. Also would like to be able to perform function tests and whatever is needed for diagnostics. Only thing I have really seen talked about online in general are the tech 2 scanners, but I'm not trying to shell out that much to only be able to read 1 set of vehicles. I have tried searching the forum but didn't really get any results. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Best cheap multi-system scanner out there IMHO. Does a heckuva lot with the different systems including crank sensor relearn and brake bleed and injector balance, etc - but It's not a TECH 2 so don't expect everything in the factory diagnostic charts to be available. AFAIK the I-link400 functioning for GM enhanced PIDs on a 1996 Blazer is yet to be proven. 1996-1997 have given some problems with cheap scanners in the past. Buy it from Amazon (buy for GM and definitely do the software update). Return it if it doesn't work for you. Let us know the function on your 1996. Don't believe it does 4WD system at all, but it does powertrain, SIR, ABS, transmission, body, HVAC, etc on my 2001.
I have been using an UltraGauge mostly for monitoring my transmission fluid temperature. It also works to set alarms; e.g. over-temp.
Because the minimum number of data readouts is four, I display the Trans Temp, the Coolant Temp, the corrected speed (I have larger tires) and one more that I'll change depending on the mood I'm in.
It of course also reads the standard ODB-II codes.
I have both the $20 one from Walmart and Torque Lite Bluetooth with a 34t5? Bluetooth adapter off Amazon and both yield very good results. It really is cool to see manifold pressure in Hg, open loop vs closed, customizable graphs..
Christine, I have something like that for voltage I stick in the cigarette lighter/power port.
