Default Service 4 WD light

Hey going up the turnpike today in my 2000 ZR2 and I was watching the odometer hit 82,000
As soon as it hit my service 4WD light came on and my 4 button selector went dark.
Is this a Schedule thing or coincidence? It will not shift in to 4X4,
Just wanted to know before I take it to get the codes pulled and if so how do I reset it?

That's definitely not scheduled. Get the codes read and report back.

My 2004 ZR-2 did this to me yesturday, regular normal driving conditions out of the BLUE! I hit a grocery store for something, came out restarted it, and it went away. A flareup? Not sure where to go from here..
