Hey Chevy People,
I am in trouble. For four years I cant fix the service engine soon light. Spent two thousand dollars over four years trying to solve this problem. Now the break lights ABS and !P are on. Just spent another $700 and a very trustworthy mechanic and still they come on. Please help me I am desperate. I cant get through inspection and am out of money LOL! And...only ten months of payment left. My car is a 2001 4WD drive blazer. I also have that blinking 4wd issue but thats another story. BTW, I am a carnoob so I dont know anything technical lol. Well thanks for reading this and any help is sooo much appreciated.

Post your vehicle information and mileage and we can get started helping
Also take the blazer to Autozone and have the codes read. Write them down and post back here with the codes (P_ _ _ _ ). With those codes we can suggest a good place to start.
Do you happen to have the detailed receipts from the previous repairs? It would be helpful to know what all has been replaced/serviced.

We have to know the codes and work performed to be able to help out here. We could just be reiterating the same things your mechanic has already tried.
One thing with the parking brake indicator is the switch on the parking brake lever. If this is broken or otherwise malfunctioning, it will result in the light being illuminated. First thing to try would be lifting up on the parking brake lever itself and see if the light turns off.

A parking brake light can be caused by a bad ABS module. I just replaced the ABS module in my 2001 and it cleared all three ABS and brake related codes. Now just the 4wd light is on and I'm going through the checks with the tools I have before I start replacing stuff.
ABS codes need a special scanner and as I found out earlier today from swartlkk, 4wd codes need the high end scan tools like GM uses to communicate. In my case, the ABS pump motor was running constantly and I found a place called ModuleMaster that fixed my ABS module for $150. All the lights are off now. YEA!!!
The 4wd issue could bequite afew different things based on what type of transfer case/4wd unit you have in your truck. I've read about something as simple as a broken wire and as a co-worker just found out, could be a whole transfer case replacement that's necessary. (I think she got hosed with her estimate and I wish I could have bought it from her instead of her selling it to the mechanic for little $) Anyway, the point is that we need to know a lot of stuff about the vehicle as well as what exactly was done to it.
With electrical issues on newer cars the dealer quite often is way better equipped to handle the problem. They are trained constantly in the new computer stuff and while they usually tell you "xx part needs to be replace for a brazillian dollars" they can also do a lot of sensor checks and wiring troubleshooting faster than others. A lot of times a "trustworthy mechanic" is great with normal stuff like front end work or brakes, but when it comes to the new computer stuff they aren't nearly as knowledgable as some others out there.
