Service Engine Soon Light on---again
I am new to this forum and have been reading through some of the posts and have only found a few references to this and no mention of some of the symptoms I have observed so I am going to post and ask for any thoughts.
Service Engine Soon light comes on
Around the same time the performance acts "doggy" as in not responding as it has for years, taking a "to the floor" press on the accelerator to get off the line at a light at somethig more than a snail's pace. Also out on the highway at speed the RPM required to maintain 70 MPH is 2900 when it always before was around 2100.
The first time this happened I read in the manual about the gas cap and the possibility of poor gas, having fueled the previous day I thought that might be it. I removed the gas cap and reseated it a couple of times and then about the 2nd start cycle, the performance seemed to improve and by the 3rd start cycle the light went out and stayed out.
I refueled with higher grade fuel thinking that it might help prevent the problem coming back.
Now, the light came back on and the performance issue came back.
I will keep looking for solutions, but if any suggestions are posted I would appreciate the benefit of the experience, and unfortunately frustration, of others.
Thanks in advance,

The light coming on is telling you that the PCM has stored a code... Without that code, any suggestions are just shots in the dark. Head on down to your nearest Autozone or Advanced Auto and have them read the codes. Depending on what type of scanner they use, they can even see the codes if the SES light has since gone off.
