Is the size of the front drive shaft nut for my 1999 Blazer ZR2 a 36 mm or 35 mm?
Any here on the forum that knows if the drive shaft nut for the front wheels is 35 or 36 millimeter?
I am asking since i need to replace the right side front wheel bearing on my 99 ZR2.
I was sure it was a 36 millimeter nut but after searching the net it says both 36 mm and 35 mm so i am not sure
I just want to have the right tools next top me when i am going to replace the right side front wheel bearing.
Since i live in northern Europe they only had wheel bearings from WJB Automotive in stock so i bought it.
I have never heard of WJB Automotive before so i have no idea about the quality of this brand.
Any here on the forum that knows the WJB Automotive wheel bearings?
Get the 36mm socket. It will work on the 35mm nut and the 36mm nut. The 35mm socket won't work on a 36mm nut. Ask me how I know. I'm pretty sure GM never paid attention to what size they put on all of the Chev/GMC/Olds S-10/S-15/Sonoma/Blazer/Jimmy/Bravadas. I gave my 35mm socket to my cousin as he had a 35mm nut. I have a 36mm nut on my ZR2, but my son, same year as my ZR2, has a 35mm nut. The 36mm socket works on his and doesn't round the corners on the nut.
I did a little analysis of this many years ago. The nut itself measure somewhere around 35.4mm on a brand new nut for these trucks. Depending on the socket manufacturer, the width across flats could be as small as 35.25mm and as large as 35.6mm for a 35mm socket. Some get lucky with a 35mm socket on the over 35mm nut some do not and that is all before you add in corrosion. The true size required is 36mm though so go with that.
